Vanilla Poached Pears recipe
Use real vanilla beans for this recipe, if you can find them - the flavor of real vanilla just can't be beat. A bit of white wine and fresh citrus bring out the natural tang of pears.
Ingredients:
4 pears, peeled and cored
4 cups water
2 cups white wine
2 cups sugar
1 vanilla bean
1 tablespoon lemon juice, plus extra as needed
Directions:
1. Combine water, wine, sugar, and vanilla in a large pot over high heat; bring to a boil and simmer 5 minutes. Add pears, bring back to a simmer, cover, and cook 8 minutes, until pears are soft.
2. Remove pears and set aside. Bring liquid back to a boil over high heat and reduce by one-third. Add lemon juice and stir to combine.
3. Pour sauce over pears and serve.
