Hazelnut-Roasted Pears recipe
Reserve this dessert for a truly special occasion. Hazelnuts, while not easy to come by, are more than worth the effort in this romantic recipe.
Ingredients:
1 ½ cups water
1 cup sugar
½ cup maple syrup
2 cinnamon sticks
3 tablespoons hazelnut liqueur
1 cup hazelnuts, lightly toasted and peeled
4 ripe pears, peeled, halved, and cored
3 tablespoons melted butter
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 350°F.
2. Combine water, sugar, maple syrup, and cinnamon in a medium pot; bring to a boil over high heat, reduce to a simmer, and cook 10 minutes. Remove from heat and stir in liqueur.
3. Add hazelnuts to pot and soak 5 minutes. Remove from pot, chop, and spread on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Toast in the oven 7 minutes, until golden. Remove from oven.
4. Place pears in an 8-inch square baking dish and pour reserved sugar-syrup over, turning to coat.
5. Roast in oven 20 minutes, until pears are soft when pierced with a fork.
6. To serve, place pears in a bowl, drizzle with remaining syrup, and sprinkle with hazelnuts.
